Barrel Bright Nickel Plating Advances - Several years ago, customers
had a tough decision to make when specifying plating for button battery
cells. They had to either specify a bright nickel coating that often
cracked when deformed in the assembly process or they could specify a
dull nickel coating that had sufficient ductility to withstand the crimping
necessary in the manufacture of the button cell batteries.
In order to serve our customers in the battery industry, some specialized
equipment and plating methods to address this issue were developed.
These techniques helped deliver a solution that our customers needed -
a bright nickel deposit that also had excellent ductility. This was also
accomplished while keeping costs minimized. Some of these same
techniques and equipment are used to this day when we barrel plate
large quantities of parts with bright nickel.
